Safety Harbor Historical Collections

About this Collection

This collection contains over 1000 pages of the historic Safety Harbor Herald newspapers with scattered dates ranging from 1925 through 1988. They are preserved and accessible to the public in the Library.  The newspapers have been de-acidified and encapsulated in Mylar sleeves for ease of handling. In addition, the collection also contains over 200 photographs as well as various publications and article clippings that pertain to Safety Harbor's history.

Funding for the project was approved by the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative’s (PPLC) Board of Directors from reserve funds used for special projects benefiting all Pinellas County residents.  The newspapers are housed at the Library in a special display case provided by the Chrissie Shull Elmore Trust Fund and are available to the public for viewing inside the Library.

For the past several years the Safety Harbor Public Library has been working on cataloging the collection to provide global access to the Safety Harbor Heralds.
